Custom Jewelry FAQ

Q1: Does your jewelry pieces contain nickel?
JMbeauty has been producing nickel-free jewelry for about a few years. All jewelry we sell does not contain nickel. Please buy with confidence, if you have any questions or specific allergies, please feel free to contact us before purchasing, we will do our best to help you.
Q2: Is silver magnetic?
Silver itself is not magnetic and will not stick to magnets. If something that looks like silver or has silver in it sticks to a magnet, it's probably because there is another magnetic substance nearby, like nickel. -Nickel is ferromagnetic, which means that magnets pull it in aggressively. - If nickel is in an alloy or is the base metal behind silver plating, a silver object may seem to be attracted to a magnet.
Q3: Is Silver with nickel legal?
In the US, it is allowed to have silver with nickel. Nickel-containing silver alloys are often used in a variety of industries to make jewelry, coins, utensils, and other things. There are no laws that say you can't utilize silver-nickel alloys. But there are some things to think about: Labeling and Disclosure: If something is offered as "silver" but has a lot of nickel or other metals in it, it needs to be clearly labeled so that customers don't get the wrong idea. For instance, sterling silver is 92.5% silver and 7.5% additional metals, usually copper. This is a standard that must be made clear. Nickel can make some people allergic. Because of this, there may be rules and standards about how to use nickel in jewelry, especially for things that touch the skin for a long time. Trademark and Purity Standards: Items that say they are "fine silver" or "sterling silver" must meet certain purity standards. At least 92.5% of sterling silver must be pure silver. If an alloy has nickel in it and is called sterling silver, it must meet these specifications. In the United States, it is legal as long as the silver-nickel alloy is made up of the right parts and meets the right purity norms and rules.
Q4: Why does a shorter sterling silver chain weigh more than a longer one?
Chains that are shorter can occasionally weigh more than chains that are longer. This is because the way they are made, the materials used, and the specifications can all change from one production date to the next. Changes in the design process, the density of the metal, or the thickness of the chain from one batch to the next can make the weight of the chain different, no matter how long it is.
Q5:What is Rhodium Plating?
Rhodium plating is a procedure that puts a thin layer of rhodium, a valuable metal in the platinum family, on the surface of jewelry. It makes the jewelry look better, last longer, and prevent tarnishing.
Q6:What is the thickness of the plating on your jewelry?
There is a 0.3-0.5 micron-thick coating on our jewelry. This coating makes our items look better and endure longer, giving them both beauty and strength.
Q7:Does your jewelry contain Anti-Tarnish Treatment?
Yes, we carefully create our jewelry with an anti-tarnish treatment to keep it shiny and bright for a long time. This particular treatment helps stop the natural tarnishing process, which keeps your jewelry looking bright and shiny.
Q8:How do i prevent silver from tarnishing?
When silver comes into contact with sulfur compounds in the air or with some chemicals, it tarnishes. There are a few things you can do to keep tarnishing from happening or to slow it down:
Storage: It is very important to store things correctly. To keep silver from tarnishing quickly, store it in airtight containers or bags. This will keep it from coming into contact with air and moisture.
Anti-Tarnish Strips: Put anti-tarnish strips or papers in your display cases or storage containers to soak up sulfur compounds from the air and keep your items from tarnishing.
Desiccants: Put silica gel packets or other desiccants in storage containers to keep moisture levels in check. This can help keep things from tarnishing.
Polishing Cloth: Use a soft, non-abrasive polishing cloth to clean down silver items often to keep their shine and get rid of any tarnish that has built up.
Avoid Chemicals: Don't let silver come into contact with household chemicals like bleach, ammonia, and chlorine, as well as cosmetics, perfumes, and lotions, which can speed up tarnishing.
Don't Store Silver on Rubber or Latex: Don't put silver goods on rubber or latex surfaces since these materials have sulfur compounds that can make them tarnish.
Use Clear Nail paint: Putting a thin coat of clear nail paint on jewelry and other things that touch your skin can protect them from tarnishing.
Regular Use: Silver things that you use and touch a lot don't tarnish as much since the oils in your skin can help protect the silver. But make sure to clean and dry them well after each usage.
Electrochemical Plating: By using electrochemical plating to put a tiny layer of rhodium or another metal on anything, you may protect it and keep it from tarnishing. This is a common way to make silver jewelry.
Professional Coating: You might want to have a professional coat your silver goods with a protective layer to keep them from tarnishing. This can be especially helpful for things with complicated designs or hard-to-reach places.
You can slow down the rate at which silver tarnishes and keep your silver products looking brilliant and attractive for longer by doing these steps.
